Bio

Jill Stein is the frontrunner for the Green Party nomination. Her platform focuses on revitalizing the economy by creating a green economy. She calls it, “The Green New Deal.”

Economy and Jobs

Jill Stein’s Green New Deal has four components: “first, we will guarantee the economic rights of all Americans, beginning with the right to a job at a living wage for every American willing and able to work; second, we will transition to a sustainable, green economy for the 21st century, by adopting green technologies and sustainable production; third, we will reboot and reprogram the financial sector so that it serves everyday people and our communities, and not the other way around; and fourth, we will protect these gains by expanding and strengthening our democracy so that our government and our economy finally serve We the People.”

Cost of College

Stein favors improving the quality of public education in order to make tuition more affordable for everyone. She also believes that student loan debt accumulated so far should be forgiven.

Health Care

Stein believes that every American has the right to health care. Her administration would increase access to health care by improving Medicare, which would decrease healthcare costs over time. This way, everyone would be able to choose their health care provider themselves, but still be able to afford it.

LGBT Rights

Stein supported marriage equality in Massachusetts back in 2001.

Sexual Health

Stein thinks that American women should be able to choose their reproductive health services for themselves, without their employer intruding.

Immigration

Stein promises to “end the war on immigrants – including the cruel, so-called “secure communities” program - which is terrorizing millions of Americans, both citizens and non-citizen immigrants, on no basis other than their perceived immigration status.”

Foreign Policy

The 4 trillion dollars spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan has been the main reason for a large deficit, according to Stein. She also believes that the wars were “illegal” and shouldn’t have happened.
