Fantasy Election Weekly Playbook

A week and a half ago, Romney supporters got the performance they were looking for when the Governor got a huge boost in the polls from his debate performance.

This week in Fantasy Election, fantasy owners got the Romney performance they were waiting for, too, as the Republican nominee racked up an incredible 3,692 points and erased President Obama’s seemingly insurmountable lead atop the leaderboard.

So how did Romney pull it off? By engaging with voters with more enthusiasm than Magic Mike (but with less tassels). He averaged three town halls a day (300 points/each), and tweeted more than Drunk Kanye, earning 10 points for every one.

In fact, during the entire Fantasy Election season, Governor Romney has racked up 19,690 points for Engagement, and lost 4,330 points in all other categories combined!

+The lesson: in MTV Fantasy Election, engagement trumps all.

Right now every point counts. We’re a few weeks away from giving away enough prizes to put Santa to shame, including a $25,000 grand prize that includes a 4-person trip to the VMAs.

Once there, you can attempt to make your own Justin Bieber secret music video, or just hang out and make flirty eyes at his security team. Regardless, here’s what you need to do to make that fantasy a reality:

+Spread the Word

Governor Romney isn’t the only one who can rack up serious points for tweeting like a superstar—you can too. You’ll earn 20 points every time you tweet using the hashtag #FantasyElection, up to five times per day. Best of all, you’ll introduce your best friends to a game that’s more fun than a Degrassi marathon at Drake's house.

(Okay, it’s probably not more fun than a Degrassi marathon at Drake’s house. But still.)

+Challenge Yourself Daily

I can’t say enough about the awesomeness of the Fantasy Election Daily Challenges . The questions are awesome. For instance, I was just asked if it was true that Rick Perry fired a gun into the air ceremoniously while Governor. Why don’t my friends ask me fun questions like that? It’s always just “Do you have my money?” and “Why aren’t you wearing pants?”

Anyway, with Daily Challenge prizes given away every day, it’s total Swag Central. Get on that. You earn 100 points for every question you answer correctly!

+Highlights

- If your total score is over 29,000 points there’s a chance you’re in the top 5% of users overall
- We’ve given away almost 2,000 prizes to date
- The most difficult Daily Challenge we’ve seen yet was an Indecision True or False question: “In 2011 Marco Rubio placed third in a Florida ballroom dancing competition.” Do you know the right answer?

+Party!

You know what they say: there ain’t no party like a Presidential debate party! This Tuesday, October 16 at 9:00 pm, rack up big points by checking into a Presidential debate party on Foursquare (500 points) and the debate on GetGlue (100 points).

Then throw on your sexy Big Bird costume, sit back, and enjoy. It’s going to be a fun fantasy ride.
