In case you missed it, or in case you watched it but the constant attacks kept you dazed, MTV News presents a rundown of five key events. Here are a few.
+ Meme of the night: Binders full of women
Responding to a question about why women overall earn less money than men, Obama brought up his support of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Romney, however, came off as a wee bit overenthusiastic. Recalling his time as governor of Massachusetts, Romney said he brought in “whole binders full of women” to hire for his administration. Within moments, bindersfullofwomen had its own tumblr.
+ Youth finally get a mention
The first question of the night was from a 20-year-old student worried about employment opportunities after graduation. Both candidates assured the young voter that their economic plan was the best suited to bringing the unemployment rate down to a level that would make finding a job achievable. And both attacked the other for bankrupting Detroit.
+ Candy Crowley fights fire with fire
Debate moderator Candy Crowley acted like a veteran dog handler, aggressively managing the unruly candidates. In fact, she took such initiative that she completely disobeyed the rules of the debate when it seemed to suit her. Despite the debate restriction against posing follow-up questions, Crowley did just that after the very first question of the debate. And at one point, she even factchecked Romney about Obama’s response to the killing of Libya ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.
