President Obama officially accepted the Democratic Party nomination last night, and in his speech he made education his pitch for the millennial vote. Since San Antonio mayor Julian Castro spoke on Tuesday night, DNC speakers haven’t let anyone forget about their party’s education policy credentials.
MTV News was on the ground to ask young Democratic loyalists what Obama can do to help young voters, and education was a common refrain. “President Obama and the Democrats in general have always been on the side of students, lowering student loan rates and interest, just trying to help everyone get a good college education,” said Andrea Walton. Jessica Jackson told us how the administration’s policies had helped her personally. With more than $250,000 in law school debt, she was only able to go into public sector work thanks to rules easing debt payments.
