MTV’s “Power of 12” campaign wants to help unleash the exponential power of the Millennial generation in the 2012 elections and beyond. With over 45 million 18-29 year olds eligible to vote in 2012 – the largest potential voting bloc in the country – young people have the power to be a deciding factor in the Presidential, Congressional and state races nationwide. And that doesn’t just mean deciding who is elected to tackle the big challenges we face, but how we’ll tackle them, given very different visions for how to create jobs, address the skyrocketing cost of college and ensure the future prosperity of America.
“Power of 12” is built to help you get informed on the candidates and key issues in the 2012 elections, as well as simplify registering and voting. We’ll keep you updated on the latest news from the campaign trail, stripping away all the noise and focusing on what really matters for you. Most importantly, we’ll amplify your voice – making sure the candidates hear your concerns, answer your questions and provide a clear picture of what they’ll do for you if elected.
But this is more than an Election campaign. Voting in the 2012 elections is a key way Millennials can flex their power, yet it’s just one way. Voting is critical, but voting alone won’t solve all our problems. So “Power of 12” will help you figure out where the candidates stand on job creation – and MTV Act will help you be a better Millennial entrepreneur. “Power of 12” will give you an opportunity to ask the candidates about education reform – and MTV’s Get Schooled campaign will help you find money for college.
You’ve got power in numbers. We’ve got your back. Let’s get into it.
